20 Mar Popular Delray Beach restaurant to open on Las Olas Boulevard in Fort Lauderdale
El Camino Mezcal & Tequila Bar, a popular Mexican soul food eatery in downtown Delray Beach, will debut its second location on Las Olas Boulevard in Fort Lauderdale.
It will open March 25 and launch brunch April 1. The menu was designed by Chef Anthony Pizzo, who co-owns Modern Restaurant Group. It offers quesadillas, tacos, burritos, fajitas, enchiladas, salads and desserts.
The new restaurant at 817 E. Las Olas Blvd. will have an expanded mezcal and tequila selection and weekend brunch service, which is not currently offered at the Delray Beach location.
Modern Restaurant Group spent $3 million to renovate and restore a warehouse space originally built in the 1950s for their newest outpost. The 6,200-square-foot eatery is nearly three times larger than its sister location in Delray Beach and employs 130 people.
El Camino in Fort Lauderdale will seat 200 people in its main dining room and has about 50 seats outdoors. The indoor/outdoor bar has 60 seats. Parking is available behind the restaurant with access via a breezeway to the venue and outdoor bar, which faces the Las Olas Boulevard strip.
The company wants to expand the brand, but Able would not reveal where else they would open.
“We are keeping upcoming locations under wraps,” he said.
El Camino has been open since December 2013 at 15 NE 2nd Ave. in Delray Beach.
