04 May Huge Cinco de Mayo Street Festival comes to West Palm Beach
Tacos, tequila, tunes, tango …
Yes, please!
If, like me, you were hooked at tacos and tequila, there will be plenty of both on hand Friday during El Camino West Palm Beach’s Cinco de Mayo Street Festival.
The restaurant will be pulling out all the stops and have the fun barreling down the tracks like a runaway — but happy and safe — train, both inside and outside its location at The Square in downtown West Palm Beach.
This will be the downtown hot spot’s biggest fiesta yet in celebration of the Mexican Army’s victory over the French at the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862 (that’s the official reason for Cinco de Mayo, not that you didn’t know).
In addition to tacos and tequila, there will also be a live mariachi band, dancing, a Latin dance instructor, face painting, pinata decorating, a vintage VW bus photo shoot and more.
Known for a friendly, community vibe as well as approachable, made-from-scratch Mexican fare, El Camino does indeed make a mean taco.
Whether it’s carne asada, barbacoa, chorizo, gringo or shrimp, El Camino’s semi-circles of love are a thing of beauty.
For the event, patrons dining inside El Camino will be able to choose from the full assortment of tacos. For patrons taking advantage of the street-festival atmosphere, chefs will be building either the chicken tinga with queso fresco and cambray onion or the Barbacoa with salsa ranchera tacos right in front of them. Get ready for some gloriously good edible masterpieces.
Keeping the fun flowing will be multiple outdoor bars featuring two of the house favorite margaritas, the classic and the watermelon-jalapeno. Several new, yet-to-be-announced cocktails will be available along with High Noon seltzer, Corona and house-made coffee tequila. The full-bar selection will be available to patrons inside the restaurant.
After being fueled up on tacos and loosened up with a beverage or two, the next step is the dance floor.
Don’t be shy, get out there and do your thing.
Not sure how? You’re in luck as there will be a Latin dance instructor showing patrons the moves. Now, they can only show you, how you actually perform is your business.
Regardless, just get out there!
Don’t make excuses, just sync your body with the music and flow. Flow like no one is watching.
In addition to the mariachi band, the I-95 Band also will be performing.
There will be a photo booth, street games and more.
